Climate Action Reserve Releases Draft Ozone Depleting Substances Offset Accounting Protocols for Comment by Dec. 18

The Climate Action Reserve issued draft protocols for accounting for offsets relating to the destruction of ozone depleting substances (ODSs). The production of ODSs are limited under the terms of the Montreal Protocol, but the Protocol does not require their destruction. Since some ODSs also have global warming potentials, the purpose of the protocols is to allow offsets for destruction.

The public workshop on the protocols is being held today in New York; participants may participate by teleconference and the presentation and draft protocols are available from the Climate Action Reserve. Comments on the protocols are due December 18.
